October 2024 Fishing Report
October was a strong month for fishing off the piers in Hoboken. In the first half of the month, sea bass were extremely plentiful especially off of 12th street pier. Shrimp was an effective bait. Bluefish were also active during this time period and there were even some flounder still around.
Striped bass fishing really heated up in the second half of the month with 14th street, 12th street, and T-pier all providing productive fishing opportunities. The outgoing tides were generally seeing more action and we were having success with bloodworms and soft plastic lures.
The closure of T-pier in late October was difficult as that is generally the pier in Hoboken that is most accommodating to anglers. Hoping that is reopened soon.
October ended on a very strong note with striped bass and it seems likely to continue well into November and December given the relatively warm weather we have been having has kept the water temperature in the ideal range for striped bass (50-60 degrees).
